Potential titles for a "Jimmy Neutron" Revival Movie and Series ⚛️

Foreword:

This was originally written on Saturday May 14, 2023. I wasn’t planning reposting this, I wasn’t planning on making this my first post for December. I was actually planning on making my review of The Killer’s Game my first post of December, but my aunt still hasn’t gotten that movie for us on her Fandango at Home account, so I’ll have to wait on that for a bit. If all else fails, I’ll just buy the movie when it comes out on Blu-Ray 💿 if it comes out on Blu-Ray 💿, which I’m sure that it will. It’s a Lionsgate movie, and their movies usually get physical releases. I just it that doesn’t get a DVD only release 📀 like Land of Bad 🇺🇸🇵🇭 did, I still don’t understand why they did that, why they released that movie on DVD 📀 and not Blu-Ray 💿, it makes no sense.

But, if my aunt manages to get The Killer’s Game for us before the year ends, then I’ll review it and it’ll one of the posts for December before my long-awaited New Year’s Eve Recap, an annual recap I do every New Year’s Eve of all the new movies I saw that year. This one will definitely be shorter than the one I did for 2023 as I saw way less movies this year than I did in 2023, and I saw way less of them in theaters this year than I did in 2023. That’s even if I manage to squeeze in The Killer’s Game at the last minute.

Besides that movie, I don’t really plan on doing any major reviews of anything this month. There isn’t really anything really all interesting or exciting coming out this month that really caught my attention and makes me want to go out to the theater and see. There is Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024), which I didn’t even know was coming out this month or even this year. I was under the impression that it was coming out next year. But, I doubt that I’m going to get my grandma to see that with me in the theaters, and it’s not like I really have to see that movie in theaters that I’m willing to go see it by myself. I can wait until it comes out streaming.

It’s a Paramount movie, so it’ll be Paramount+ when it leaves theaters…probably, maybe? But, I am willing to check it out and review it for this blog. I’ll add it to my list of movies to review. I haven’t seen the second one, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), I’ve only seen the first one, Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), so I’ll have to watch Sonic 2 before I watch Sonic 3. I don’t plan writing a dedicated review of Sonic 2, I’ll just talk about my thoughts on it in my review of Sonic 3. Everything else I had planned on reviewing like Terminator Zero, Skull Island, Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie 🐿️, and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix to name a few, I plan on saving for next year, in 2025.

But, the reason why I decided to post this was I was kind of bored, and wanted something to do, so I decided to post something that I had written in my Drafts app in the past and was substantially long enough to justify being its own post, and just write a foreword for it. It is the day before my birthday 🎂🥳, so why not? I am admittedly running out of old posts to repost on here or post on here for the first time, so if I want to give updates about what’s happening in my life, what games I’m playing, what movies I’ve seen or planning on seeing, and talk news topics that interest me, I’ll have to make them their own dedicated posts. Have the Status Updates actually live up to their name.

But, until that happens, I’ll continue reposting or posting old stuff that I’ve written and that I think is good enough to be posted on here and for you to read. I’m thinking of reposting my Godzilla vs. Kong review since I still think it’s good well-written review that is still relatively representative of my current feeling on the film, plus I reviewed Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and it would feel wrong not to have the review of the movie that it is a direct sequel to. I’m thinking of reposting my review of the original Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series for many of the same reasons for why I’m planning on reposting my Godzilla vs. Kong review but for Ghost in the Shell

I haven’t posted anything Ghost in the Shell related since I posted the long lost trailer for Ghost in the Shell 2.0, the controversial remastered/enhanced version of the 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie directed by Mamoru Oshii. I’m thinking of reposting all of Inuyasha reviews for the same reason I’m thinking of reposting my Godzilla vs. Kong review and my Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex review, you get the picture. I’m thinking of reposting all of my Mortal Kombat journals including my review of Mortal Kombat (2021). I’m even thinking of reposting my review of The Matrix Resurrections because hey, I haven’t posted anything Matrix related on this blog. I have talked about The Matrix, I’ve mentioned it in other posts, but I’ve never posted anything that was dedicated to anything from the Matrix franchise.

The reason why I chose this post in particular is that it’s about Jimmy Neutron, and I really haven’t posted anything about Jimmy Neutron since that one that I reposted from DeviantART about how the show takes place in Texas. The reason why is there just hasn’t been to talk about recently when it comes to Jimmy Neutron. There hasn’t been a reboot or revival series, despite me writing this post a year ago about the possibility of there being a reboot or revival and what it would look like.

There has been no video games, no remastered versions of any of the older games like The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Jet Fusion or The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Attack of the Twonkies, or even any completely new Jimmy Neutron games despite the fact that THQ Nordic still has the license to create and release Jimmy Neutron games. They have access to that particular IP, and they’ve so far done nothing with it. There hasn’t even been a new movie of any kind because let’s not forget that Jimmy Neutron started out in the world of movies before it moved to the world of television.

It’s effectively a dormant or dead franchise, which is both a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing because it means no one has come in and ruined it to try to cash-in on it 🤑 (it’s not being milked for everything it’s worth), and it’s a curse, at least for me, because I want to see more Jimmy Neutron stuff, some new Jimmy Neutron stuff, and I’m just not getting it because no one is making any. Which is a shame because I really like Jimmy Neutron, it’s one of my favorite Nickelodeon shows of all time. And yet it feels like Nickelodeon themselves are ignoring it. It feels like they’re trying to bury the show and pretend it doesn’t exist.

As I said in the original text, the original creator, John A. Davis said that he would be open to bringing the show back or rebooting it in someway if he felt that the time was right. Which isn’t super reassuring, like why isn’t now the best time to bring back Jimmy? But it is better than nothing. At least he’s not saying that it will happen, he’s leaving it open to make a comeback, should he and everyone else that was involved in the series be interested in coming back and doing more Jimmy Neutron

That’s only half the battle since Nickelodeon would also have to be on board with reviving the Jimmy Neutron franchise and doing a new series, and there’s no guarantee that they would. But, considering how they have gone back in the well and dug old franchises of theirs and done reboots or continuations of them, they have a better chance of getting a Jimmy Neutron reboot made with Nickelodeon than they would if the franchise belonged to Disney Channel or Cartoon Network, two networks that really haven’t done a ton of reboots of their older shows. At least, not as many as Nickelodeon has.

But, if not a reboot series or even a new movie, I’d still take a video game. Like, if they were to remaster or straight up remake Jet Fusion or Attack of the Twonkies and release them on current gen consoles, I would buy them in an instant. But, I would still like to see a completely new and original Jimmy Neutron game. Like, get the developers who made SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake 🧽🔮, I’m sure they could come up with an awesome Jimmy Neutron game. I even said this in the original text that in addition to seeing a remaster or remake of Attack of the Twonkies, I would see a completely new Jimmy Neutron game just like had been done with SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom 🧽. They remade Battle for Bikini Bottom first, and then they made a completely new SpongeBob 🧽 game, The Cosmic Shake 🔮. They could easily take the same route with Jimmy Neutron. I just didn’t say that it should be done by the same developer, Purple Lamp.

But, regardless of who makes it, I think an interesting thing to explore in a new Jimmy Neutron game would be to have other characters be playable alongside Jimmy. In every single Jimmy Neutron game that has ever been made (to my knowledge), Jimmy has been the sole playable character. With the exception of those sections in the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius PC game where you play as Goddard, but I don’t entirely count that since Goddard’s technically being remote controlled by Jimmy in those moments, so you are in essence still playing as Jimmy. Makes sense right? He’s the main character, and his name is the title, so he should be the main playable character or the only playable characters.

But, I like it when games give you the option to play as multiple characters or when game have play as a different for a single level or a single section of a level, so why not do that with the next Jimmy Neutron game? Obviously, Jimmy can still be the main playable character, but you can have sections where you play as other characters like Carl Wheezer, Sheen Estevez, Cindy Vortex, and Libby Folfax. That would be something completely different and fresh and set the game apart from the Jimmy Neutron games from the past.

I know when some of you read Sheen’s name in there, you may think of Planet Sheen, but I can assure you I’m not talking about a Planet Sheen game, I’m talking about Sheen being playable in a Jimmy Neutron game. There is a difference. I would only except a Planet Sheen game, or any game where Sheen was the main protagonist if it was done well. I still haven’t played SpongeBob SquarePants: The Patrick Star Game 🧽, so I don’t know if that game’s any good, and if making a supporting character the protagonist of a video game is a good idea. But if it is, then I’ll say, “make a Sheen video game, I’m sure it’ll turn out well if you hand it to the right developer. A developer who does consistently good work and doesn’t half ass anything.”

Or Carl, why not make a Carl game? I’m sure there would be plenty of people out there who’d be willing to play a Jimmy Neutron game where you play as Carl and where Carl is the main character and sole playable character. He became a fan-favorite character became of memes. Same thing with Hugh Neutron, he became a much popular character in recent years than when the show originally aired because of all the memes that were made out of him. I maybe speaking for myself here, but I’d play a Hugh Neutron game. You could even call it, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Hugh Time. You’ll understand that reference if you’ve ever watched the show or seen any of the memes online.

Speaking of Planet Sheen though, one thing that I failed to address in the original text was the Planet Sheen factor. If you were to do a new Jimmy Neutron series, and if it wasn’t a complete reboot and was a continuation that picked up where the original series left off, where does Planet Sheen fit into that? What would you do with? Obviously, you want Sheen to be in the new Jimmy Neutron show because he was one of Jimmy’s best friends, he was a main stay of the series, and he was a fan-favorite. You know, until he wasn’t anymore.

But, how you can you have it in there and still have it make sense continuity wise if Sheen went off into space and landed on another planet with aliens? Do you just ignore the series or retcon it out of existence, and just pretend that it never happened and that Sheen never left Earth 🌎 and was always here? Or do you acknowledge it, and just say that Sheen came back to Earth 🌎 at some point, and have Sheen mention his adventures on Zeenu from time to time? Maybe even have characters from that show appear in the new Jimmy Neutron show?

I’m sure they could make it work either way whichever route they decided to take, but there are a couple of things that I would do if I were on the writing team of such a show. I would either have it be so that Planet Sheen was a prequel to The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron rather than a sequel to it, or just have it all be dream 💭. Like, Sheen fell asleep 😴 in Jimmy’s lab one day or was asleep 😴 in bed 🛌 and had a dream 💭 that he went into Jimmy’s lab without his permission, trying to look for him and not finding him (Jimmy’s no where to be seen), and accidentally flew off into space in a rocket ship 🚀 and cash landed on an alien planet and lived an entirely new life there, making entire new friends there. One of which just happens to resemble Carl…for some reason. Sure, that’s not a perfect or clean explanation, but it is better than just ignoring Planet Sheen entirely and carrying on as if it never happened. This way you’re still acknowledging the show for the people who liked it, but you’ll also saying that it wasn’t real and that it never happened so that doesn’t mess with the continuity in any way shape or form.

Though, the idea of the events of Planet Sheen actually happening, and Sheen returning to Earth 🌎 after being stuck on Zeenu for who knows how long, could be interesting and cool, but I would only be open to it if there was some time dilation going on and years had passed since Sheen left, and when he comes back, everyone he knew in his life are all older. All of friends, Jimmy, Carl, Libby, and Cindy are all adults, and his parents all both old, and perhaps Ms. Fowl is dead because she was already pretty old in Jimmy Neutron, and would probably be dead by time Sheen returned from Zeenu given what age she was when he left Earth 🌎. That maybe too dark for Jimmy Neutron, but that’s the only way I would accept that idea, of Sheen returning to Earth 🌎 from Zeenu, and reuniting with Jimmy and the gang.

Since I did mention the memes, something that I didn’t really touch in the original text was the question of if they do bring it back, if they do make a Jimmy Neutron reboot or revival, should they lean into the memes, or should they just avoid them and just keep doing their own thing. Because SpongeBob 🧽 started leaning into the memes in the more recent seasons, and they started trying to create new memes, and that was met with some criticism by the fans because they felt that it was inorganic, that they were trying to force a meme rather than letting one happen naturally, and they were using the memes that have been made as a crutch for humor until it’s no longer funny. So, should a Jimmy Neutron reboot avoid mentioning the memes, and just keep doing it own thing or should they reference the memes, or even trying to create new ones?

Well, I think they can reference the memes every once in a while as a nod to the fans to show that they’re listening and they’re aware of the zeitgeist, but they shouldn’t use them a crutch for humor or base entire plots around them, or try to force a meme to happen, try to artificially make a scene or a moment go viral. They’re lose a lot of people if they do that because it’ll just come across as phony, inorganic, and forced. Memes are something that have to happen organically, you can’t force that sort of thing.

Like, there are things that are memes that I don’t understand why they are memes, while there are things that I think should be memes but aren’t. So, if they just played their cards right and just did their things, then the memes would come naturally to them. Like, if there is a moment that people want to make into a meme, then it will be a meme. Just let it happen, don’t try to force it happen. I do think though that if there was a Jimmy Neutron reboot or revival, and they started putting much more emphasis on Carl and Hugh, like giving much more screen time than they probably should or giving them entire episodes based around them, then that would be a sign that they are leaning into the memes, and that wouldn’t be a good thing, at least in my opinion.

There is one thing on the video game front that I got wrong when I originally wrote this, and that’s Jimmy Neutron was in the Nickelodeon Kart Racers games, or at least the third one. In the original text, I said that he wasn’t in any of them at all, but I was wrong, he is actually in one of them. The best one, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway. I wrote this before I had owned a Nintendo Switch, and before I had played all three Nickelodeon Kart Racers games, so cut me some slack. At least, I’m admitting I was wrong, instead of being silent about it and not correcting my mistake.

I haven’t played any of the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl games, so I can’t say whether or not I was wrong about Jimmy Neutron not being in them. But still, I can’t believe it took them until the third game to bring Jimmy Neutron into the Kart Racers series when the show was once a staple of the network and the character is so iconic and was considered one of the big three along with SpongeBob 🧽 and Timmy Turner. And if Jimmy’s in the second All-Star Brawl game but not in the first, then it’s a bit weird that they put his father, Hugh Neutron in the first game as a DLC character and not Jimmy himself. If he wasn’t in the first game, then why wasn’t he? He should’ve been in the game as a playable character from the start, and not as DLC like Hugh was.

I also mentioned the idea of a Jimmy Neutron and Dexter’s Laboratory crossover. I didn’t actually write down any ideas of what I would want to see in that, or what it would actually be like, I wrote down a title for it: Jimmy and Dexter: Battle of the Boy Geniuses. I think it would be very cool because Jimmy and Dexter are both boy geniuses ♂︎, yes, but they’re different kinds of geniuses, their personalities are completely different. Jimmy, even though he is really smart and he can built all these amazing inventions, he still feels like a kid, he still acts like a kid.

He’s still interested in things a boy ♂︎ his age would be interested in. It’s just that he has a higher IQ than most kid’s his age, and can build things kids his age could only dream of building. Whereas Dexter is like a mini-adult, he really doesn’t act like a real kid at all. He doesn’t talk like a real kid either in the same way Jimmy does. He acts very a bit too mature for his age. It could be that Dexter is so self-assured about his own intellect that he sees himself as above everyone else, including those in his own age range, so he chooses not to act like them or engage in activities that he sees as inane or childish.

Plus, Dexter is a bit more sinister, like he’s more of an evil genius or a mad scientist than Jimmy is, and while Jimmy does make mistakes and all his inventions always fail or go wrong, he’s still a good guy in the end. He’s still a hero. Whereas, the lines are bit blurred with Dexter, and he does pretty bad things, usually for his own selfish gain or to get back at or get rid of his annoying big sister, Dee Dee for always barging into his secret lab without his permission, interrupting him, and ruining his experiments and just generally being a nuance; a pest. Jimmy’s a hero whereas Dexter is more along the lines of an antihero in my estimation. I think that would a nice contrast in a crossover movie or special.

But I know in my heart of hearts that it will probably never happen even I do like at least one of those shows. They’re owned by two completely different companies. Jimmy Neutron is owned by Paramount and Nickelodeon and Dexter’s Laboratory is owned by Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network, and there’s all these rights and licensing issues that would have to worked out, and that would get expensive. In the past, I know Disney and Warner Bros. were able to put aside their differences and come together to work out a deal to allow both Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny to appear in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? But, I doubt Paramount and Warner Bros. would come together to do the same Jimmy and Dexter because as much as I like them (or at least as much as I like Jimmy), they’re not as iconic as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. Honestly, we’re more likely to see a Johnny Test and Dexter’s Laboratory crossover than we are a Jimmy Neutron and Dexter’s Laboratory crossover. Even if I’m not sure if Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. even still owns the rights to Johnny Test or if they ever did, because there was a Johnny Test reboot recently and it was put out on Netflix, not Cartoon Network or on HBO Max now known as just Max.

So, if not Dexter, then maybe Jimmy can crossover with someone else. Maybe they could have Jimmy Neutron crossover with Fairly OddParents again, do another Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, but this as adults since The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish is a sequel to the original Fairly OddParents series, and all returning characters are all much older than the were in the previous series. So, Timmy would be adult in A New Wish if they were to bring him back (which they haven’t yet), which means if they were to do another Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, Jimmy would have to be an adult too. And it would be a smoother transition because A New Wish is 3D animated just like Jimmy Neutron was, although it’s in a different style than Jimmy Neutron was.

One last thing before I close out this foreword, since I mentioned it in my previous post, I want to give you guys an update on my progress on Star Wars: Republic Commando. Good news, I got passed that section in the “Canyons of Death” level with the Geonosians and the Super Battle Droids, and the completed the level where you and your squad infiltrate that Trade Federation core ship, steal the launch codes, and then destroy it. I did get on the part at the end of the level where you actually go to the bridge of the core ship and download the codes, and the game just throws endless amounts of enemies (battle droids) at you at you make your way over to bridge and while you’re on the bridge trying to get the codes. But, not as long as I stuck on that part in the canyons with the Geonosians and battle droids.

I even completed the entire level set on the Acclamator-class assault ship, the Prosecutor which was commandeered by Trandoshans with very few problems. Now, I’m on the level set on Kashyyyk where you have to go in and rescue Tarfful, who was kidnapped and held hostage by the Trandoshans, who have sided with the Separatists (the Confederacy of Independent Systems) in order to gain access to their vast resources and weaponry, including battle droids, to use to try to enslave the Wookiees.

Because the Trandoshans are slavers, and the race they’ve chosen to enslave are the Wookiees, and they’ve been at war with them for many years (perhaps maybe even a millennia) for that reason. And while they were neutral for most of the Clone Wars, during the final year of the Clone Wars, the Trandoshans decided to pick a side and chose to side with the Separatists because the Wookiees were sided with the Republic, and they knew that the Republic would never allow them to enslave the Wookiees.

So, they chose the Separatists, not because they believed in their ideology of wanting more autonomy within the galaxy to manage their own affairs and be represented fairly, but because they wanted to enslave a species that they had been at war with for centuries, and they believed that the Separatists would provide them the resources they needed to do it so long as it was against a Republic-controlled world which Kashyyyk was.

The inclusion of Kashyyyk and the character Tarfful is where the game’s connection to Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith is the most apparent. I can’t wait to play this level. I also learned that the game does indeed have difficulty settings. I was wrong about that in my previous post. It’s just something you have to do manually by accessing the settings on the pause menu and probably the main menu, I just didn’t bother to check. I guess I just I’m so used to games making you select a difficulty before you even start the game.

Another thing I didn’t mention was Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, a remastered version of Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was released fairly recently, like a couple of months ago. Which probably explains why all those game reviewing channels did videos on it four months ago all of a sudden. Not GmanLives though, he already did a video on Star Wars: Bounty Hunter four years ago in 2020, long before the remaster was ever released.

For those of you who don’t know what Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is, basically, it’s an action adventure third person shooter game focused on the character Jango Fett from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones released in 2002. It’s a tie-in game to Attack of the Clones, acting as a prequel to that film, showing Jango’s backstory and showing what he was doing before the events of Attack of the Clones, before he had an entire clone army made from his DNA 🧬. Before his son Boba Fett was born, also a clone created from his DNA 🧬 albeit unaltered unlike the Clone Troopers. In fact, the game shows how Jango was ultimately recruited by Count Dooku to become the clone template.

However, because of the acquisition by Disney and the entire Expanded Universe prior to the Disney films being recategorized as “Legends,” the story of the game, the backstory they gave to Jango, and the explanation they provided for how Jango met Count Dooku and became the genetic template for the clone army 🧬 was all rendered non-canon. This game thoroughly exists in Legends now as a result of Disney buying Lucasfilm and all of its film and television assets, as well as dissolving LucasArts, which was one of their most controversial decisions early on in the beginning. In case you’re wondering, after they got rid of LucasArts, they replaced it with the far more generic sounding Lucasfilm Games. Even the logo for Lucasfilm Games is really generic and boring, it’s just the same logo as regular ol’ Lucasfilm just with the word “Games” underneath. Nothing will ever replace LucasArts in the eyes of many Star Wars fans and that iconic logo that would appear at the beginning of every Star Wars game up until the Disney acquisition.

It means that Jango is not Mandalorian as he was depicted in this game. In canon, they came up with a different backstory for him, the fact that he wasn’t a Mandalorian, and he was simply an unrelated bounty hunter who wore Mandalorian armor and used Mandalorian weaponry, but was also kind of influenced by Mandalorian culture a little bit which is why he’s able to speak in Mandalorian (or what he assumed to be Mandalorian) in Attack of the Clones. You can’t blame Disney for that one, that decision to not make Jango a Mandalorian was made before the Disney acquisition when Lucasfilm was still under George Lucas’s sole ownership. It was in essence his and Dave Filoni’s decision to just make Jango a regular non-Mandalorian human.

The revelation that Jango was not a Mandalorian was made in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, in one of the first episodes set on Mandalore. But just because Star Wars: Bounty Hunter isn’t canon (at least not anymore) doesn’t we all can’t still enjoy it. It’s pretty much available on all systems including PC, so I could play it if I wanted to. I never got the chance to plan it when it originally came out, it was a game I missed out on during my childhood. So, this remastered version gives me the chance to finally play it.

However, it is a digital download only release, meaning there is no physical version of this game that you can go out and buy. You’ll have to download it from the Nintendo Store, the PlayStation Store, and the Microsoft Store. That’s a shame because that means I won’t be able to play it because I don’t have a bank account 🏦 or a debit card 💳 to buy and download the game. I can only use cash 💵, which is why I always go for physical releases whenever possible.

Oh, and since I mentioned The Clone Wars, I should also mention that I learned recently that a remastered version of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars game that I mentioned in the foreword of my Attack of the Clones review was released months ago also. It has nothing to do with the series, it was made years before the Clone Wars series that everyone is familiar with started airing or was even conceived. It’s an action game that emphasizes vehicular combat where you take control of tanks, AATs, AT-XTs, STAPs, and other military vehicles like the Republic gunships, and even battle droids like the Hailfire droids. There also Jedi sections too where you take control of a Jedi and go against enemies on the battlefield, mainly battle droids, using lightsabers and the Force.

The game’s story is set both during and after Attack of the Clones, though the only part of it that is set during Attack of the Clones is the beginning part which is set during the First Battle of Geonosis, but from Mace Windu’s perspective instead Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padmè’s perspective like in the film. After that, the game is all new stuff, showing completely new battles on a completely new planets that were not featured or even mentioned in Attack of the Clones. So, even if the game is primarily an Attack of the Clones tie-in game, it does sort of act as bridge between it and Revenge of the Sith, even if, like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, it was rendered non-canon by Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm and all of its film and TV properties and the Expanded Universe becoming Legends.

It was made by the same developers as the two original Star Wars: Battlefront games, Pandemic Studios, which has been defunct since EA (Electronic Arts) bought it in 2007 and decided to shut it down in 2009. This was a game that I played as a kid because my cousin had it on XBox, though I never played the campaign, or we never played the campaign. We just played that Arena mode where you just take control of a Star Wars vehicle or battle droid and do battle with the other player. So, I never saw or played any of the sections where you play as a Jedi like Mace Windu, or Obi-Wan, or Anakin. It is cool that they released a remastered version of this game for the current gen consoles. However, just like Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, it’s a digital download only release, so I probably won’t be able to play it. At least, not anytime soon.

(This is a screenshot of the title card for The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.)

The movie:

The Return of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

The series:

The Continued Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius

When it comes to the movie, if they do make another Jimmy Neutron movie and use it kick off a reboot series of some kind, I highly doubt that it would released theatrically. Nope, Jimmy Neutron won't be on the big screen (probably) I'm afraid. Instead, I think if one is made, it'll most likely go straight to streaming on Paramount+. Now, I'm not saying this because I think it should go straight to streaming, I do think a Jimmy Neutron movie should get a wide release into theaters, especially since the original Jimmy Neutron movie was released in theaters.

I'm just saying that because Nickelodeon doesn't seem like they value some of their animated films enough to give them theatrical releases, like they don't think they're worthy of being on the big screen. I mean, The Loud House Movie was released on Netflix and not in theaters, even though The Loud House is Nickelodeon's second biggest and second most popular franchise besides SpongeBob 🧽.  But, it could be that it was released in 2021, when the pandemic 🦠😷 was still raging on, and things still weren't as open as they are now. If that movie was released now, in 2023, then it probably would've gotten a theatrical release. Or may not, who knows? Nickelodeon isn't particular known for making the best decisions in the world.

But, Jimmy Neutron unfortunately is a lot lower on the totem pole than Loud House, despite the fact that Jimmy Neutron was the third most popular and successful Nickelodeon franchise during its time, right behind SpongeBob 🧽 and Fairly OddParents. Even though, Jimmy Neutron is still a popular franchise, the Jimmy Neutron characters are still popular, and the show and movie still have a significant cult following. Granted a lot of that cult following was gained in the years after its cancellation, and mostly has to do with the countless memes that have been made of this show; which have actually been embraced by the original voice cast and the original crew of the series.

And yet, since its cancellation and since the complete and utter failure of Planet Sheen, Nickelodeon has kind of swept it under the rug, disrespecting it constantly, and refusing to even acknowledge its existence, besides just dumping it on Paramount+, and releasing the full series on DVD 📀 instead of on Blu-Ray 💿, which is a decision that still baffles me to this day 🤦‍♂️. I mean, Jimmy hasn't appeared in any of the major Nickelodeon crossover video games that come out in recent years like the Nickelodeon Kart Racers games or the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl game, despite both series being marketed as a crossover celebration of every Nicktoon series that have ever made, old and new. To be fair though, they did the same thing with Bessie Higgenbottom from The Mighty B! 🐝 which is another series that Nickelodeon has seemingly disowned, or has refuses to acknowledge, despite the fact that series was championed by the Nickelodeon leadership at the time when it was being made and when it was still airing.

So, if the people behind Jimmy Neutron (mainly the creator, John A. Davis) managed to get a movie approved and greenlit by the higher-ups at Nickelodeon, then Nickelodeon would probably just release that movie straight-to-streaming on Paramount+. Not seeing Jimmy Neutron as an important or popular enough brand to release theatrically. I know, Jimmy has been out of the game for quite some time, but come on, he hasn't fallen out of popularity that much. In fact, I would argue that his popularity has only increased since the series was canceled in 2006.

As for what, the movie would be about, I really don't know. That would be up to John A. Davis and the writers to decide. I'm not going to come up with a plot for the movie because I don't have one in mind, and I rather leave that for the original creators to decide. Hopefully, they come up with something good. John A. Davis has said that he's been holding off on reviving Jimmy Neutron until he came up with a good enough story that he felt was worth telling. Then again, Brad Bird said the same thing about making an Incredibles sequel, and we all know how The Incredibles 2 turned out 😒. So, maybe waiting until the "right moment" perhaps isn't always the best strategy when it comes to making a sequel or a reboot.

I do think that a second Jimmy Neutron movie would lean more towards being a reboot rather than a straight up sequel, since it's over 17 years since the show was canceled, and over 22 years since the original movie came out. A lot has changed, and the people behind Jimmy Neutron will probably want to adapt to the times, and change some things (for better or for worse). That's what Hey, Arnold creator, Craig Bartlett did when it came time to make The Jungle Movie 🌴. And if they're going to use a second Jimmy Neutron movie as a springboard to launch a revival series, then I'm sure they'll make it more of a soft reboot.

As for the series, I think it would probably continue from where the show left off at Season 3. But, because the movie would be more of a reboot, so would the series, as plenty of things would be different as well as keeping them the same. Like, I think a revival series would keep the things people liked about the original series, while adding new elements, and changing things that perhaps didn't really work about the original series. That would the ideal anyway.

I'm sure that the people behind the show and movie would want time to get reacquainted with these characters and this world again after being away from it for so long, but also get with the times a bit. They probably wouldn't do a lot of the planned plot lines or story arcs, and go with completely new ones. And if they did go with some planned plot lines and story arcs, then they probably start fresh with them and change a lot of things. Again, similar to what Craig Bartlett did with The Jungle Movie 🌴.

I do think the animation in a potential revival series would be pretty great though, and significant improvement over the original series. CGI technology has improved since The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron was canceled, and there are a lot more CGI cartoons now than they were when the show was originally airing. I mean, the Rugrats reboot series in CG, and so is that Big Nate series, and they both look pretty good. So, the animation in a Jimmy Neutron reboot/revival series would probably look pretty good. I mean, Jimmy Neutron arguably was Nickelodeon's first fully CGI series, none of those shows I mentioned and more, would've happened if it weren't for Jimmy Neutron. So, it definitely deserves it.

One thing that I hope they do if they were make a Jimmy Neutron revival series is that I hope that they just go with full 30 minute episodes this time around rather than two 11 minute segments put together like in the original series. I'm not saying that I want the movie to be super serialized or anything, I just want the episodes to occupy the full 30 minute time slot. They did a lot more 30 minute episodes in Season 2 than they did in Season 1, and I think the majority of episodes in Season 3 were 30 minutes. And a lot of my favorite episodes from this show, and the ones I remember the most are 30 minutes so.... It would be too much to take that extra step, and do every episode 30 minutes. But, still keep the show fairly episodic as it was before.

They can have overarching plot lines, recurring characters, and have continuity, but keep it episodic for the most part. They don't need to make this revival show like watching an 8 hour+ long movie in multiple parts that you need to binge watch. This show, for the most part, works best when it's episodic, and each episode can be enjoyed on its own without having watching the entire series in order.

That was one of Jimmy Neutron's biggest strengths, and what set it apart from both SpongeBob 🧽 and Fairly OddParents, the fact that it could be an episodic series, while still having continuity, and having things carryover from previous episode(s) or season(s). The most notable example was Libby's hair, which changes in the "Mummy" episode, and was maintained for the rest of the series from then on out. Libby actually keeps the hair style that she got in the "Mummy" episode, and has a change of clothes too which is kept for the rest of the series as well.

Other examples include the Hypercube, which Jimmy invented in the "Birthday 🥳" episode, and becomes one of his main inventions that he uses along with his handy-dandy Shrink Ray, and his rocket ship which was carried over from the movie actually. There's also the spaceship that Jimmy and his friends win in that "Win, Lose, Kaboom" episode that Jimmy uses later on in the "N-Men" episode.

Even something small as the Twonkies from "Attack of the Twonkies" were kept in the show after they were first introduced in that hour long special. They served as a bit of a background gag in the series from then on out, that you could spot if you looked carefully. Though, it makes you wonder why none of the Twonkies mutated and turned into those bigger and more aggressive Twonkies (the ones referred to as Stompers in the Attack of the Twonkies game) since they escaped into the wild. You'd think they'd be around some sort of music 🎵 that would've caused them to mutate, but I guess that's just something the writers and animators overlooked when they inserted the Twonkies in the background of a particular shot. But, anyway, those are kind of things that I'd be looking for in a Jimmy Neutron revival series if one ever got made.

While we're on the topic of Attack of the Twonkies though, I would love it if THQ Nordic did a remake of the Attack of the Twonkies video game, just like they did one for Battle for Bikini Bottom. Attack of the Twonkies was a childhood game of mine. Even though I didn't finish it, I did enjoy the parts that I did play, and I enjoyed what I saw when I watched longplays of it on YouTube. I also like it more than the special it's based on, like I think the story in the game is a bit better than it is in the special. It's more fleshed out, which makes sense since it's a video game, and you have more time to elaborate on things. Like, having that band, Graystar ★ play at a new hockey stadium 🏒 is way more interesting than them just playing at a new library 📚. I like the variety of different types of Twonkies in the game, compared to the special where there was only one type of Twonkie.

I mean, in the special, the Twonkies are all different colors have different furry patterns, but once they mutate and become monstrous, they all look the same. But, in the game, you have more life stages, like in addition to the standard Twonkie and Stompers (which are the more aggressive and chaotic ones), you have Gromps, which are next stage in the life cycle of the creature before you get to that giant one. The Gromps are only in the game, and I feel they add more variety to the story than just having standard Twonkies and Stompers.

A lot of people agree that of all the Jimmy Neutron games that have been made, Attack of the Twonkies, so it's most logical candidate to get a remake made out of it since Battle for Bikini Bottom is often seen as the best SpongeBob 🧽 game ever made. It certainly was the most popular, so it was the one that got remade. So, it only makes sense for Attack of the Twonkies to get the same treatment since it occupies the same space that Battle for Bikini Bottom does in the minds of SpongeBob 🧽 fans.

They could improve the graphics (obviously), they can expand the gameplay, add new levels or sections, and just overall make it a better game than the original, or at least, make it a different and unique experience from the original. If a movie or a revival series never ends up happening, a remake of that game would be a good way of bringing Jimmy Neutron back in a way. And if not a remake of Attack of the Twonkies, then they could just make a completely new Jimmy Neutron game just like how they made a completely new SpongeBob 🧽 game called The Cosmic Shake 🔮, after they made the Battle for Bikini Bottom remake.
